This course is designed to educate and impact the quality of care physicians and nurses provide to vulnerable populations, specifically women and children victims of domestic violence.

This is the first program series designed exclusively for medical professionals, created by medical professionals, public health professionals, and trained domestic violence experts.

After participating in this course, students will be able to:

  • Identify the role health care professionals play in ending the cycle of violence for victims.
  • Discuss effective mindful care strategies for vulnerable patients who are victims of domestic violence.
  • Define compassion care.
  • Identify ways to advocate for under-served and marginalized women and children.
  • Develop knowledge-building tools to create policies to address domestic violence.
  • Apply quality, practical techniques to effectively enhance relationships with vulnerable patients.
  • Apply practical communication tools to help build meaningful connections.
  • Define why compassionate care is needed to for all victims of violence.
  • Demonstrate practical mindful self-care strategies.
  • Identify special populations that may require a higher level of care.
  • Describe how to care for vulnerable populations experiencing domestic violence.
  • Discuss the importance of self-care for medical providers who care for vulnerable populations.
  • Apply self -care strategies that will directly impact providers self -awareness and effectiveness in patient care

How to Obtain CE Credit
Participants must participate in all five modules and pass the post-test in order to earn credit hours and obtain a CE certificate. A link to the online evaluation is available on the module host site after October 1, 2019 with instructions for access to the CE credit system which can be found on the Course Page Closing Letter. The final online evaluations must be submitted by October 1, 2021 to receive continuing education credit for this activity.
